Before Ben came along Tyler and I went to SDC maybe once a year, usually during his work sponsored trip. We would wait in line for rides, ride the rides, eat, wait some more, ride some more and go home. Fun right? Well let me just tell you the way we saw the park yesterday... :)
We met PoppaD, Brent Tonya and Lillian bright and early in the morning to leave for Branson. Not quite as early as we had planned to meet as we were all running late. :)
PoppaD had borrowed a larger car from work so that we could all ride together. We loaded the car seats and the other stuff for the kiddos in the back as best we could, but storage space was limited when you use the third row seating, which we most definitely used. :)
Then we leave Springdale. Ben was awake and happy for most of the trip in the car, just a short cat nap somewhere around the MO line, and really very little fussing. Finally we arrive at SDC and park the car. Then we unload ourselves and the babies. That took a little while to get organized. We ride the trolly to the entrance and yes, success, we've made it before lunch time! :)
We looked around some of the park features that I honestly didn't really even know were there. We saw the knife maker, a glass blower, a blacksmith, the fudge shop. Did you know they have a petting zoo?? I didn't. Ben was very amazed, he slept in his stroller and let us make funny poses with skunk skin hats. :)
This would be when he decided to take his morning nap. Fun times.
Then it was time for lunch so we found a spot to eat, ordered our food, made the babies food and fed them. Then we ate lunch. This took every bit of an hour. The morning had been pretty overcast and SDC has a lot of shade anyway so we really hadn't felt very much heat until that point. After lunch it started to feel a little more heated so we took the babies to the kiddie water fountains to cool off. Ben was a little leary of the shooting water, but he did enjoy the cool bath.
After playing with the kiddos, we had to change the kiddos. This again took a little time. We then went and rode one kiddie ride with the kiddos. It was little bugs that went around in a circle. I would love to say that Ben just loved his turn on the ride, but I think he was pretty much indifferent. Sitting in the stroller, sitting on a spinning bug, whatever. :) He was mostly amazed at watching the center part go up and down and watched it the whole time we were on the ride.
Then it was nap time, and let me tell you he was ready for some nap time. :) While he took a short little nap with PoppaD, the four big kids went and rode the barn swing, which ended up not having a wait at all. It ended up being the only big ride we rode all day. When we got back from the ride Ben was awake so we treated ourselves to frozen lemonade and went and sat under an air conditioned front porch.
Then it was time once again to pack up the kiddos, make our way back to the car, load the car, and head to dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. Yummmm. :)
We did have quite a wait, but we had fun waiting...
And finally it was our turn to eat.
Can't you see the excitement in his eyes... :) No worries, he stuck to his usual meal of sweet potatoes, peas and bananas. No Crab for him just yet.
I wish I had gotten a picture of the ride home, all of us literally exhausted and riding in the car. The kids were passed straight out, even snoring. :) Don't know why I didn't take a picture, oh yea I was exhausted too!! :)
