8 Weeks Old Today

Disclaimer: I started this blog originally as 7 Weeks Old Today, and then got a week behind and changed it, so the date is off.. The actual 8 week birthday is March 22, 2010. :)

Well as of today, Ben is officially 8 weeks old. I cannot believe how fast the time is going!! At best estimate, he weighs about 10lbs 8oz. He is about 23in long. Quite a change from when he was born. :) Really it seems like I see him after sleeping and he looks bigger. I know it doesn't make sense but I swear he does!!

Some changes over the last few weeks...

We have officially moved him into his own crib in his own nursery. It was a hard transition, okay well a hard transition for me (but necessary due to multiple evenings of moving him into our bed and not remembering actually doing it, very weird) and he has done just great with it so it is really a win~win situation.

I know that picture is a little dark, but I wanted to show you how he cuddled with his heart-beat bear. Don't worry, since I found out he can move around the crib to find it, and can actually move the bear closer to him, I have latched it to the edge of the crib.

I have been trying really hard to get Ben on a schedule, if nothing else in the mornings so when I go back to work it won't be so hard on the both of us trying to get up and out of the house. Lets face it, I'm absolutely not a morning person, and I don't think there is much hope for Ben, so we need all the help we can get. :) I have managed to be very consistent with the night time routine, but the morning, big shock, is hit and miss.

Usually we get up in time, but as you can see here, he very quickly falls back to sleep. That would be fine for him, but not so productive when I fall asleep too, which is most days... What can I say, we are a work in progress. :)

We had our first shopping trip, during the warmest and most beautiful day of the year no less. It was so beautiful outside, we tried on some sun-glasses, and then because they were just too cute I bought them for him. Some might say it's a little ridiculous buying sunglasses for an infant, but I justified it to myself. We will need them for summer trips and playing in the pool... right!! :)

Now admit it, they are precious aren't they!! Wouldn't you buy them!?!? :)

That beautiful day I mentioned previously, well it was followed by a spring snow fall the very next day that dropped 10in over a 24 hour period, so we bundled up in our winter coat for our one trip out.

What you can't tell in this, was it was such a thick coat, he was literally stuck in place. Seriously he looked like a teddy bear with his arms stuck out straight in front of him!

He and his cousin Lillian, who is 13 days older than he is, have been having a great time together. They both love bath time in the evenings, so one night when we were at Brent and Tonya's we put them in together to save time. Okay and to get a picture...

I put both those pictures together because they both have the same expression, just at different times. Almost like a "what exactly are you doing here again, I'm not sure I like this" look. It really is fun to see all they are doing and learning and will do together.

Overall Ben is just a happy go lucky little guy, he's smiling more often and best I can tell knows the familiar people in his life. He doesn't prefer me to anyone (honestly he really only prefers anyone when they have his bottle), but he definitely recognizes me, which makes me feel pretty darn special I gotta say. You can tell he is more comfortable with people he has been around a lot. It's great to watch his expressions and just wonder what he must be thinking. :)

Thanks for checking back with us! I promise to do better about updating more often, or at least I promise to try harder! :)

Have a great Spring Break!!
